Aspect Ratio of Montmorillonite Particles and Modes of Particle Association in Montmorillonite Suspensions

Abstract

Montmorillonite samples often contain water soluble salts. Removal of the salts induces change in viscosity of the suspensions. The change of viscosity may be due to the difference in modes of particle-particle association in montmorillonite suspensions. The difference in modes is presumably attributed to aspect ratio of montmorillonite particles.
