Abstract
Photochemical reactions in multicomponent colloidal systems of photochemically inert clay and semiconducting niobate nanosheets were investigated. UV-irradiation of the nanosheet colloids caused excitation of the photocatalytically active niobate nanosheets, and the generated electrons were accumulated in the nanosheets themselves. When a cationic cyanine dye was added to the colloids, UV-irradiation caused photocatalytic decomposition of the dye.
