Effect of alkaline metal ions on the dissolution of allophane in alkali solution and its dissolution mechanism

Abstract
The previous experiments result showed that during dissolution process structure of KyP is more vulnerable to attack as compared to the structure of KnP. This features show that the type of dissolution of allophane is significantly affected by Si/Al ratio. The effect of alkali type (LiOH, NaOH and KOH) on the dissolution of allophane will be observed by chemical analysis and FTIR spectroscopy. Quantum chemical calculation will be carried out to confirm the validity of experiment result and examine detailed dissolution mechanism by using MOPAC 2002 with AM1 basis set.
