Abstract
This article examines a Brazilian song released in 2013 called "Ala Pétalo " by the
singer-songwriter and flutist Alexandre Andrés. This analysis compares and refers
to the three places that adopt a polytonal approach in this song and the music of
the genre which is mainly referred to as neoclassicalism at the beginning of the
20th century. The concept of polytonality was introduced by neoclassicalism.
The analysis is based on the chapter on polytonality of "Law of Harmony " by
Charles Koechlin, and some music by Ibert, Respighi, Milhaud, Ravel, and Holst
are used for comparison. For basic key, scale, frequency concepts, they followed a
functional harmony.
