Abstract
Vacuum Carbon Deoxidation (VCD) treatment with no aluminum or silicon as a deoxidant gets lower oxygen content and less nonmetallic inclusion in the steel and moreover the segregation in ingot and mechanical properties can be improved by this treatment. In this paper VCD treatment in the Ladle Furnace combined with arc furnace and bottom pouring process in Shibukawa plant (Daido Steel Co.) shall be introduced and some consideration about the deoxidation mechanism in the Ladle Furnace is discussed.
