Abstract

Purpose: The filmless operation using Electronic Medical Recording (EMR) System is started at Nihon University Hospital, (school of dentistry at Matsudo) from April 2006. Recently, the medical hospital that introduces EMR system is increasing, however, our hospital operated it for the first time in the dento-maxillo-facial area in Japan. Especially, we tried the unprecedented experiment in the intraoral radiography. We report to the filmless operation of intraoral radiography by the EMR system.
Materials and methods: The modality used SCAN X® (Morita) and VISTASCAN® (Yoshida) as IP methods, and Compuray® (Yoshida) was used as CMOS sensor method. All intraoral method corresponded to HIS/RIS, MWM, and DICOM Storage for operation of EMR system, and all radiograms operated by filmless system.
Results: DICOM Storage to the PACS server was indispensable, and corresponding to MWM was important to smooth operation. In the use of a different modality, card reading system was useful for prevent to switched IP scanner.
Conclusion: The radiology information system is composed of the imaging modality, the workstation, the reporting system, and the PACS server. It was suggested that corresponding to the intraoral radiography is especially important by the filmless operation using EMR system in the dental hospital.
