Abstract
This research examines the current prevalence and compliance with gacha mechanics in 100 top-grossing mobile
games in Japan. Amongst the 91 games with gacha mechanics, 90.1% provided probability disclosures for at least one random
in-game item, but only 41.8% provided probabilities for all random items. According to our findings, the current mobile
games in Japan are far from the perfect compliance found in the previous study, which proves that the current self-regulation
system is still underperforming and lacks transparency.
