This study aims to develop a location choice model for distribution facilities, based on the Freight Survey Data in the Keihanshin metropolitan area, in order to analyze the probability of their location within a study area subdivided into 1-km2 zones. In this model, factors affecting the choice of the location, such as closeness to shippers and customers, accessibility to road networks and the ease of site acquisition, were employed as explanatory variables. Using this model, we attempted to quantitatively evaluate the possibility of distribution facility locations in each zone in the study area. The changes in the possibility of distribution facility locations, influenced by the planned construction of a new expressway, are also predicted.
