This paper presents the research results concerning daily people travel related with their main activity. The method is survey, using questionnaires which were distributed to households who live in the fringe area. They were asked about their routinity, which was related with working, studying, and shopping.Case study was choosen for urban fringe in cities of Bandung and Semarang. The findings show that Bandung and its urban fringe area were dense and compact related to the facilities distribution. Whereas Semarang was less compact and less dense. The findings also show that people who lives in compact fringe area were travelling shorter than people who lived in less compact fringe area. Related with public transport, level of service influences people to change the transport mode, and it was not caused by the length of trip.
