Abstract
The energetic metabolisms in many kinds of industrial workings have been studied by many authors, but no report on the prisoners, workings.
The basal metabolism and Relative Metabolic Rate of 20 prisoners were measured in September and October 1954.
Results obtained were as follows:
1) The average of their basal metabolism was 33.2 Cal. per sq. m. per hr., which was lower than the Janese standard by 7%.
2) The averages of R. M. R. were 0.31-1.59 as shown in table 2.
3) Their energy expenditure per day was 1829-2674 Calories.
