Abstract
Following report II, when some amount of carotene were administered with low vitamin A basal diet on rats, the storage of vitamin A in livers was recognized to less extent in spite of large dosage of carotene. Contrary to the case of vitamin A administration, high carotene dose did not give rise to much storage of vitamin A in liver, as shown in case of vitamin A administered on report II.
The slight increase in plasma levels recognized especially in vitamin A levels, but was not in carotene levels on carotene administration.
Carotene excretion in faeces was continued for two or three days after dosing.
