The Effect of Eggs and Sugar on the Human Serum Lipids

Abstract

This experiment was conducted to certify the effect of eggs and sugar on human serum lipids. The following results were obtained.
1. Sixteen students were divided into 3 groups; the first group with a daily intake of three eggs, the second group with a daily intake of five eggs, and the third group with a daily intake of 50g of sugar. The experiment was continued for 11 weeks, and serum protein, hematocrit and serum lipids such as β-lipoprotein, total cholesterol, triglyceride were measured every two weeks and also before and after the experiment.
2. Serum protein and hematocrit in each group showed no significant changes throughout the experiment.
3. In each group β-lipoprotein, total cholesterol and triglyceride showed a significant marked increase within 7-9 weeks after loading of the diet.
