Abstract
Amphiphilic materials (AMs) with a polyiminocthylene unit were synthesized. Their thermotropic and lyotropic liquid crystalline behavior was examined. Also, novel branched polymers(BPAMs) with AM units were prepared. AMs and BPAMs were easily miscible with water. The lyotropic systems consisting of AMs and water formed lyomcsophascs. The lyotropic systems of BPAMs and water also exhibited a smectic A lyomesophasc.
