Synthesis of New trans-Difluorostilbene (DFS) Materials : Application to Liquid Crystal Mixtures for TFT-LCDs

Abstract

Trans-difluorostilbene (DFS) compounds were reported to be superior liquid crystal materials with low viscosity and high Δn for STN-LCDs with fast response time. We have attempted to introduce of fluorinated polar terminal groups to the DFS compounds for obtaining higher Δε values. The mixtures for TFT-LCDs with fast response time were developed using these new compounds.
