Abstract
We have studied the carrier transport properties of the nematic phase of cyclohexylethylterthiophene derivative by time of flight measurements. In the nematic phase, positive and negative carrier mobilities exhibited positive temperature-dependence whose activation energy was 0.35 eV in contrast to temperature-independent mobility in the smectic phases. Anisotropy in carrier mobility in the nematic phase was 1.6 at 150℃, and the mobility along the director was smaller than that vertical to it.
