Novel triphenylene compounds possessing fluoroalkylated side chains were synthesized. The polarizing microscopic observations of textures and DSC measurements showed that these were thermotropic liquid crystals with Col_h mesophase. The effect of fluoroalkyl chains on the mesomorphic behaviour was discussed.
