Abstract
We have synthesized liquid crystalline 2-n-butylthio-6- (4'-octylphenyl) -naphthalene derivative and characterized its phase transition behaviors and photoconductive properties. We obtained that this compound was very stable and easy to synthesize, and exhibited liquid crystalline, distinct photo-response and very fast electronic carrier transport under room temperature (4×10^<-3>cm^2/Vs in the SmX_1, 1×10^<-2>cm^2/Vs in the SmX_2). The present results are very attracting attentions due to its industrial usefulness.
