Abstract
We have examined liquid crystal alignment using an ultra-fine periodical structures. Ultra-fine periodical structures is made holographically by using a N_2 pulse laser (337 nm). Groove depth dependence of homogeneous alignment is examined. Homeotropic alignment is obtained by orthogonal two interference stripes. Tilt alignment is also obtained by combination of holographic technique and oblique reactive ion etching.
