1C16 The mechanism of sign inversion of spontaneous polarization in ferroelectric SmC^* liquid crystals

Abstract

The applied electric field dependence of the sign inversion temperature of Ps was found out in FLC-117, and analyzed by the revised hindered rotational potential model. We report this result and the importance of the asymmetry of the potential function raised from the strong molecular chirality.
