Abstract
The electrooptical properties of liquid crystal phases of bent-core materials have been studied extensively and it was found that the B2 phase is antiferroelectric. Recently, it was reported that bent-core materials exhibit another switchiable polar smectic phase, the B7 phase, and the polar structure of this phase is not investigated well. In this study, we use a novel chiral bent-core material which exhibits the B7 phase. From electroopitc properties and second-harmonic measurements, we conclude that the field-induced state structure of this phase is SmCSPF. And the ground state structure is similar to the SmCAPA state, but it assumed to have 2-dimensional layer structure conformed by x-ray diffraction.
