2B05 Liquid Cryatalline Phase Transition in Poly (α-fluoroacrylate) with biphenyl side groups

Abstract

Several poly (α-fluoroacrylate) s with biphenyl side groups were prepared and their phase transition and mesogenicity were observed using DSC and X-ray powder diffractions and polarizing microscope observations. They have enantiotropic mesomorphic phases. The properties of surface was studied using static and dynamic contact angle measurements. The poly ((4-octyloxy-4'-hexyl-oxybiphenyl) α-fluoroacrylate) (PF6B8) has a high contact angle of ca 110°, which is caused by the octyloxy groups on the surface of polymer membrane.
