Abstract
The dielectric characteristic of the liquid crystal in microwave or a millimeter wave wavelength region is measured using the coaxial line which is compact and is easy to treat. In measurement, the thickness of the liquid crystal layer of a coaxial line was 1 mm or more. Therefore, the liquid crystal molecule had turned to the random direction. Although the transmission characteristic in alignment of the liquid crystal molecule by the initial state and voltage was asked for complex permittivity of liquid crystal, it is difficult to carry out the exact measurement. Then, we produced the devised coaxial line so that a liquid crystal molecule might be alignment in the state of the first stage, and measured complex permittivity in the microwave band of various nematic liquid crystals from the resonance characteristic.
