Abstract
We examined the conditions of no grayscale inversion for the realization of a new wide viewing angle liquid crystal display. In addition, we examined the general characteristics of films that compensate for the retardation of the dark state of all liquid-crystal cells. Using these methods, a wide-viewing-angle and high contrast LCD with no grayscale inversion has been realized.
