3A07 Measurement method of Elastic Constant for negative dielectric anisotropy LC mixture (1)

Abstract

Recently, Vertical Alignment Method of LC has been proposed for wide viewing angle display. It has been using LC mixture that has negative dielectric anisotropy characteristics. It is required to know the material parameters of LC to control display characteristics. In this paper, we propose the measurement method of Elastic Constant (K_<11> and K_<33>) for negative dielectric anisotropy LC mixture by applying voltage. We measured capacitance of vertically aligned LC cell to obtain the Vth and the ratio of Elastic Constant (κ)
