Abstract
A liquid crystal (LC) microlens with hexagonally-hole-patterned electrodes is proposed. The hexagonal holes in two electrodes have the same size. They are overlapped with an orientation angle difference of 30°. The structure makes the LC microlens close to that with round-hole patterned electrodes. The optical properties of the LC microlens are numerically simulated.
