Abstract
The polymer-stabilized ferroelectric liquid crystals, in which a photocurable mesogenic monomer is doped into a ferroelectric liquid crystal and then a UV photocure is carried out in SmA phase, has been reported to show V-shaped electrooptic characteristics. However, the molecular orientational structure of this polymer-stabilized ferroelectric liquid crystal has been not yet clear. In this research, the electrooptical characteristics, the microscoplic textures, the chevron angle and the tilt angle of the polymer-stabilizaed ferroelectric liquid crystal photocured in the SmA phase is measured, and the molecular orientational structure is discussed from these results.
