Abstract
BiNem (Bistable Nematic) cell is composed of strong anchoring substrate (master plate) and weak anchoring substrate (slave plate). It is important for operation of BiNem to break the anchoring on the slave plate. In our simulation, it is found that driving voltage depends on the polar anchoring strength of the slave plate. When the azimuthal anchoring strength is increasing, the condition of the polar anchoring strength where the cell shows bistability is limited. It is thought that the flow effect is weakened when the azimuthal anchoring strength is strong.
