We developed Double-Faced TFT-LCD having only one LC panel and one lighting system. It works as a transmissive-type LCD for a front side observer and as a reflective type LCD for a backside one at the same time. Because it has only one LC panel and one lighting system, the thickness, the weight and the cost will be decreased to 1/2 compared to a conventional LC module having two LC panels and two lighting systems.
