Abstract
In order to realize flexible displays, we fabricated an A4-sized ferroelectric liquid crystal (FLC) display device using microcolor filters mounted on a plastic substrate. The color filters and ITO electrodes were formed on a glass substrate, and then transferred to the plastic substrates. This technique can form flat surface of the substrate and make fine patterning of the color filters and ITO electrodes. Then, an FLC/monomer solution film was uniformly coated on the substrate by flexographic printing method to form a large-size FLC/polymer composite film sustaining the plastic substrates. A fabricated A4-sized device with color pixels presented images even when the device was bent.
