Abstract
Introduction of the chirality has a fascinating effect on producing various kinds of superstructures. Chiral molecules generally favor to form a helical superstructure, of which the periodicity can be adjusted by changing the degree of chirality. 3D structures can also been seen in some chirality-driven frustrated phases. In this study, chiral twin molecules possessing two chiral centres at both peripheral ends were designed in order to produce strong chirality, of which the core structures were also systematically modified so that the strength of the layered structure can be tuned. Decrease in the layer strength resulted in the emergence of the anomalous SmQ and sponge phases, which showed 3D superstructures.
