Abstract
Novel 1,7,8-trifluoronaphthalene derivatives were designed for applications with negative dielectric anisotropy and were prepared through the regioselective fluorination and lithiation of fluorinated naphthols. These compounds exhibited large absolute value of dielectric anisotropy and large birefringence, compared with corresponding difluoronaphthalene and difluorotetrahydronaphthalene derivatives.
