Abstract
We have composed a hybrid photonic crystal with ferroelecric liquid crystal by inducing the ferroeletric liquid crystal between dielectric multilayers consisted of SiO2 and TiO2. We have investigated laser action in the hybrid photonic crystal by light excitation, and achieved single-mode laser action. We have compared the lasing threshold between the hybrid photonic crystal and simple FLC without the dielectric multilayers, and observed the lasing threshold of the hybrid photonic crystal was 103 times lower than that of the simple FLC without dielectric multilayers.
