Abstract
New liquid-crystalline molecules bearing pi-conjugated structures with polar moieties were prepared. These compounds exhibited enantiotropic liquid-crystalline columnar phases, which were revealed by DSC and XRD measurements. In addition, these compounds showed gelation abilities for some organic solvents.
