Abstract

Electric field response of a cholesteric phase was investigated. When electric field was applied to the cholesteric phase of (S)-8-BP(X)MBs, it showed planer state to fan-shape state taransition. In this study, the effect of the chirality on the electric field response of the cholesteric phase was investigated. The (S)-8-BP(X)MBs with several enantiomer excess was prepared. The racemic form of (S)-8-BP(Cl)MB and (S)-8-BP(Cl)MB was mixed to investigate the effect of chirality.
