Discotic Liquid Crystals of Organic Metal Complexes (94): Synthesis and Mesomorphism of Novel Donor-Accepter Dyads Based on Phthalocyanine-C60 Showing Homeotropic Alignment

Abstract

In our previous work, we successfully synthesized a dyad of phthalocyanine(Pc) and [60]fullerene as a liquid crystalline compound having the donor-accepter system, and confirmed that it showed columnar mesomorphism and homeotropic alignment. In this work, we succeeded in the synthesis of novel donor-accepter dyads based on phthalocyanine-C60 which could be obtained in less synthetic steps and more easily purified. We established that they also show columnar mesomorphism and homeotropic alignment.
