Abstract
Tetraarylethylenes display interesting chemical and physical properties. Tetraarylethylene has a flat aromatic core whose derivatives exhibit discotic columnar phase because of intermolecular pi-pi interaction between aromatic cores. In addition, microsegration of the polar cores from non-polar alkyl side chains also contributes to show mesophase. In this study, amphiphilic molecules with tetraarylethylene were newly synthesized and then the phase behavior and the electrochemical property were investigated.
