Abstract
Recently, transflective LCDs pay much people's attention due to their lower power consumption and excellent readability in an out-door environment. But commercial availability of the LCDs are limited because of the complex structures, etc. In this study, we propose a new type of transflective LCDs that have wave guide structures in the LCDs, which leads to simplify the LCD structure (single cell gap). We give preliminary experimental results that demonstrate the usefulness of the proposed LCDs
