Abstract
Liquid crystal (LC) phase shifters in the microwave and millimeter-wave region are investigated by using microstrip line (MSL) which is well known as an excellent planar type waveguide for the super high frequency electromagnetic waves. Novel wave guide structure, which can covert normal MSL to the inverted MSL structure, is designed to introduce LC materials on the MSL as CPW type LC phase shifters. Fundamental phase shifting properties up to 15GHz are demonstrated empirically by constructing the designed device structure.
