Abstract
We previously reported that discotic liquid crystals were constructed by the selfassembly of 1,3-alkadiynyl-4-benzoic acids (mPhDA) as the rod-like molecules. In this study, we investigated the structure and physical properties of the mixed liquid crystal systems using the mPhDAs with different alkyl substituents and the systems combined with 4-alkokybenzoic acids. We revealed that these mixed liquid crystal systems showed columnar and smectic mesophases depending on the structure of the mesogens and the conditions such as composition and temperature.
