PB11 Synthesis and Properties of Novel Liquid Crystal Compounds with a 2,6,7-trioxabicyclo[2.2.2]octane

Abstract

We synthesized nobel LC compounds featuring 2,6,7-trioxabicyclo[2.2.2]octane ring, and measured their properties required for LCD applications. The new 2,6,7-trioxabicyclo[2.2.2]-octane compounds have larger Δ_ε than comventional compounds with cyclohexane ring or dioxane ring. Those compounds are useful for the LC mixture which improve the properties of display devices, for example, low driving voltage and short response time.
