Abstract
Bicontinuous cubic (Cubbi) liquid crystalline phases have self-organized structure with three-dimensional network. A famous compound called ANBC-22 shows two types of Cubbi phases (Ia3d and Im3m). In this study, we found that when azobenzene conpounds are added, the structure of Cubbi phase significantly depends on the molecular structure of the additives and its amount in the binary mixture. This result is important for discussion on the mechanism of Cubbi-Cubbi phase transition.
