Alignment of low-molecular LCs doped with photoalignable composites materials

Abstract

Photoalignment of low-molecular-liquid crystals (LC) cell is explored without surface treatment ofthe LC-cell. A linearly polarized (LP) light exposure to a LC cell containing low-molecular LCs anda small amount of photoalignable material generate homogenous LC orientation. Material design,mixture ratio and exposure condition are investigated in detail.
