Abstract

Liquid-crystal (LC) micro-lens-array (MLA) with 3rd electrode was fabricated to realize a variable light diffusion device. We found that the light diffusion effect was increased with the anti-phase voltages to drive the LC-MLA. Optical haze value changed between 10 and 80 % with driving condition of the LC-MLA. From the result of angle-dependence of LED lamp luminance though the LC-MLA, it is clear that driving the LC-MLA by the anti-phase voltages is suitable to increase the light diffusion effect.
