Abstract

We have invented the principle to produce slippery interfaces, where W is incredibly small. We categorized the three types of slippery states, glide, weak and slide states, based on the dynamics of the surface director. Anchoring energy of LC molecules on the PEG gel film can be tune widely changing the concentration of diacrylate of PEG monomer. Using the rotation magnetic field equipment invented by Oswald[1], we evaluated the anchoring energy W and surface viscosity s. Furthermore, we applied the weak slippery interface to the combination IPS nematic display cell, and success to improve the mode efficiency greatly keeping the quick switching on and off response.
