Abstract

Liquid crystal elastomers are unique materials with the strong coupling of molecular orientation and macroscopic shape. Cholesteric liquid crystal elastomers (CLCEs), whose helical axis is parallel to a direction in the film plane, have a thermoresponsive and periodic surface-undulation with a period corresponding to a half-pitch of the helical director configuration.
