Ionic liquids are salts with melting points of 100 °C or less, which show non-volatility, wide potential window, ionic conductivity, and chemical stability. Furthermore, the ionic liquids having a relatively large non-ionic part in comparison with the ionic part form a layer structure because of their polarity difference. In that case, a two-dimensional ion transport will be expected. In this study, we synthesize DEME (N,N-diethyl-N-methyl-N-(2-methoxyethyl)ammonium) cation based ionic liquids having an aromatic ring, and will discuss the liquid crystallinity of the ionic liquids by solvent addition (water, alcohols, and diols).
