Abstract

A lyotropic liquid crystal is a liquid crystal mixed with water or another substance and phase transition depending on the temperature and the mixing rate. It is known that DNA and cell membranes in the living body have a liquid crystal state, and it is considered that there is a close relationship between liquid crystal and living body. In this study, we made lyotropic liquid crystal with single-stranded DNA and observed the texture. And we measured the ion density, the circular dichroism (CD) spectrum. The purpose is to examine changes in liquid crystal properties due to liquid crystal phases and base species.
