Abstract

Recently, dismantlable adhesives have attracted interest in terms of environment, and allow temporary bonding/debonding, painless removal of wound dressings, using of adherend. Among them, photoexfoliable adhesives have more advantages, that is, light can change adhesion properties without heat activation and irradiate local adhesion area. Previously, we have investigated photoexfoliable hydrogen-bonded liquid crystalline composites containing N-benzylideneaniline (NBA) as a photoresponsive mesogenic unit. In this study, we prepared liquid crystalline copolymer (P1) with NBA side chain. P1 could bond two glass substrates through heating above the melting point of P1 and cooling rapidly, and UV irradiation to the glass substrates induced photoexfoliation at room temperature.
