Abstract

Thinning and weight reduction of lenses are important factors for miniaturization of optical equipment. A geometric phase lens based on the in-plane orientation pattern of a liquid crystal display can have a lens function with a thickness of several micrometers, so it can be expected that the lens will be thinner and lighter. In this presentation, we report on "design of geometric phase lens with aberration correction function using genetic algorithm" and "formation of geometric phase lens using photocrosslinkable polymer liquid crystal" which we have been working on in recent years.
