Tilt angle dependence of selective reflection from patterned cholesteric liquid crystals

Abstract

Tilt angle dependence of selective reflection from patterned cholesteric liquid crystals is analyzed by the FDTD method and our proposed geometric optics method. The long- and short-wavelength of the selective reflection can be estimated by considering the optical path difference and its average refractive index. The calculation results using our proposed method are in good agreement with those using the FDTD method.
